The Marconi Radio Station Site
Wellfleet, MA

Shelter overlooking the site. Inside was an encased diorama of the station. The National Park Service tore
this site down in the spring of 2013 due to continuing coastal erosion. It will not be relocated or replaced - no money!

Plaque describing the Marconi Site.

Over 100 feet below the original site, is one of the tower bases. As all along the Atlantic
side of Cape Cod, the beach erodes constantly. What is at the top of the dunes
will eventually be in the water.

View along the coast to the south of the site. Over 100 feet above the waterline - imagine it
on a cold windy January night - desolation comes to mind.
